Economic Benefit of Noise Control Worksheet

Long-term Economic Benefit of Noise Control (183 KB)

This worksheet is intended to support efforts to advocate a low-noise purchase. The spreadsheet performs computations to estimate the net benefit of current noise control expenditures versus the anticipated cost of noise induced hearing loss at a later date.

The user enters or selects the current TWA noise exposure, the criterion level (desired TWA noise exposure), the number of employees exposed, the estimated range of individual hearing loss disability claims, and the hearing impairment percentile.

The worksheet estimates the long-term economic cost of noise exposure and thereby is also able to estimate the benefit per person and for the group of reducing noise exposure through engineering noise control.
